Bangalore Palace was built by the king, then of Mysore, Wodeyar Chamaraja. He bought the land from the Rev. Garret and build a sumptuous palace on the subject in 1884. The architecture is Tudor style. The construction of this palace was inspired by Windsor Castle in England. The castle is located in the heart of the city and is surrounded by beautiful gardens. He once covered a large open area which was now reduced. The castle, which covers an area of 430 hectares and is situated amidst beautiful gardens, is known for its elegant woodwork, paintings and sculptures. This palace was fortified towers, gothic windows, which adds a royal charm. There is an exquisite door panel, resulting in large settings. The interior consists of super floral motifs, moldings, cornices and relief paintings on the ceilings. It is believed that the construction of the Bangalore Palace had paid the princely sum of more than 1 lakh rupees and the price of the land was only about ten lakh rupees! Although it sounds like a ridiculous as they are today, but we must remember that in those days, one lakh was really great deal. Today, a huge building standing in 45 000 square meters, and reflects a rare majesty.
